Open Studios Art Tour 2016

Open Studios is nearly upon us! This will be your opportunity for a sneak peak at the Avila Beach Lifeguard Tower murals for Tower 1 as they progress. I have new 6x17" prints of 2 mermaid surfboards: 'Small Blessings" and "Ulysses Ruin" as well as other new matted print releases. Tips for first-time tour-goers: Take a little time with a highlighter in hand to review the catalog, sift through the artist vignettes, and plot your “must-sees.” Smart phone users may wish to navigate online (download the app here). Local coffee, food and wine purveyors along your route will also welcome you. Grab a friend or few, designate a navigator – and go!

Mermaid Surfboard: "The Visitors"

Work in Progress: Vertical mermaid surfboard titled, "The Visitors." This board is 5'10" x 19", shaped by Greg Webster. The mermaid wraps around the other side, which is new for me. I *plan* (hope) to have it completed by the art show on Oct. 8.

Lifeguard Tower murals of Avila Beach Community Workshop I conducted my first ever community workshop where I invited the public to help paint the base colors for 3 sides of Tower 1. This delightful group of people did a great job and I appreciated the help! I will be doing another workshop when I lay out the designs for Tower 2, so sign up if you would like to paint on this mural. I'll send a link to sign up when I decide the date.

New Collectors "Thank you" to my new collectors, John and Kim! Kim is a musician and John is an avid diver who collects antique diving memorabilia, so the painting titled, "Men of the Sea" truly appealed to him.
